About Jane Trenaman - Senior Associate at Everys Solicitors

Jane is an Senior Associate Solicitor in the Family team and is based at our Tiverton office. She specialises in complex cases involving children and in financial remedy on divorce. Jane also advises on the full range of private family work from divorce and dissolution to pre-nuptial and co-habitation agreements.

Jane undertakes a significant amount of work in the resolution of financial disputes and is recognised for her meticulous approach in resolving these matters and for managing complex cases with precision and sensitivity.

Jane has extensive experience working on cases involving children, from assisting in arrangements for children following the breakdown of a relationship; handling relocation disputes; advising on Special Guardianship Orders; through to obtaining and defending Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issue Orders.

A member of Resolution, Jane is highly regarded throughout Mid-Devon for her calm and conciliatory approach, guiding her clients through challenging situations with her extensive knowledge, experience and expertise. She holds Resolution Accreditation as a Specialist in Private Children Law and Complex Financial Remedies.

Jane works with a diverse range of clients and often receives recommendations and referrals from those she has previously represented.

Relevant experience

  • Advised in complex Children Act proceedings including an urgent application to the Court for the return of a child where there were multi-jurisdictional issues. The case also involved vulnerable parties and the instruction of numerous experts.
  • Advised on an application for a Child Arrangements Order against a highly resistant mother who refused to confirm the birth of the child. Working with the client over several years to establish a shared care arrangement. 
  • Handled longstanding proceedings involving allegations of parental alienation resulting in a change of living arrangements for the child in favour of our client. 
  • Advised alongside a senior partner on a complex farming divorce case involving intervenors, farming experts, an agricultural tenancy agreement and a proprietary estoppel claim.  
  • Guided a vulnerable client through financial remedy proceedings involving a significant inequality in power between the parties, ultimately securing a fair division of family assets.
